Ukiyo-e Kitagawa Utamaro

Kitagawa Utamaro was a Japanese artist. He is one of the most highly regarded designers of ukiyo-e woodblock prints and paintings and is best known for his bijin ōkubi-e “large-headed pictures of beautiful women” of the 1790s.
The medium I choose was an encaustic ( wax ) painting.
The technique of woodblock print ( Ukiyo-e ) curves the woodblock and adds colours for individual key print sheet transfer to a whole. I used a similar process on encaustic painting except directly adding colour wax into the curved line.
